Just a few years ago in 2010, there was a recall for Toyota group (Toyota, Lexus, etc) for an 'unintended acceleration issue'. Also called the 'sticky accel pedal' recall, this caused many people to either be injured or even die. Recently, a judge ruled that people in Florida and New York state cannot sue Toyota unless they have first-handedly experienced the actual unintended acceleration event. This opposes the case in California, where the judge there said the exact opposite. There will be another case in February 2013 where two people died in 2010 because of the recall.
