SAFETY OF AN ELECTRIC CAR: QUESTIONABLE?

After the crash/fire

You might have known about the Hong Kong-produced BYD electric vehicles being used as taxis in China. A few days ago, one of the electric taxis (with 2 passengers and 1 driver) collided with a Nissan GT-R that was going over 124 mph. After colliding, the taxi suddenly was engulfed in flames, killing the three people inside it. While BYD has apologized for this issue, the safety of electric cars were also questioned. However, the Nissan Leaf (currently selling on the US) doesn't have this issue. As I'd hate to say it, this issue might be caused due the cheap materials that go into making this car.
