BMW M3 COUPE
(From a personal request)
The BMW M3 has gone through 4 generations. The first generation E30 M3, was a great car for the price because the original intention was not to sell it to the public, but to use it in races such as Group A Touring Car racing against its main rival, the Mercedes-Benz W201 190E. Several modifications were the front lip spoiler, side spoiler, having a 5x120 wheel bolt pattern suspension (increasing the caster angle), wider tires, better brakes, and so much more.
Usually, it is quite hard to make a better car out of a good car. However, BMW accomplished that with the E36 version by adding a more powerful engine that now made 240hp with 3.2L, and a different design of the suspension. The option of a 5-speed manual and automatic transmission was added.
In October 2000, the E46 M3 was launched with a new design and several other improvements. This car had the strongest normally-aspirated engine ever made by BMW in its time (excluding the McLaren F1) with 340 hp and 269 lb-ft. The new car also came with a SMG (SMG ll) 6-speed transmission. This car was so great, Automobile Magazine concluded that this was one of the favorite sports cars of its time.
That would all change with the current-gen (2007) BMW M3. Once again, the design was changed to fit better with the other BMW vehicles. Not only that, the new car once again increased its power to 414 bhp at 8300 rpm, with peak torque of 295 lb-ft at 3900 rpm. It now comes with a 7-speed Getrag automatic transmission that launches the car 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, with a electronically limited top speed of 155 mph. The Getrag transmission does the same as the SMG (or SMG ll) but with more speed and fuel efficiency. Many famous (in the automobile world) people have said that the BMW M3 is one of the greatest cars in the world, and without any doubt, that is quite true.
