A NEW STANDARD: AIRBAGS ON SEATBELTS

mercedes-benz-beltbagAirbags are everywhere on cars since it was first introduced in the early 19th century. Airbags were first on the steering wheel and the passenger side, but other types like driver's knee airbag, curtain side airbag, side impact airbags, and many more. The one place that airbags haven't been on are the seatbelts. Companies like Ford and Mercedes-Benz introduced the seatbelt airbag (known as new seat belt mounted airbag in the Bavarian brand, or you could also just call it the 'beltbag') and claims that the increased surface area (of when the seatbelt is fully inflated) lessens the force into one area of the chest, reducing the chance of injury. When a crash is sensed, the car automatically inflates the seatbelt with gas. It is important to know that this will only be for the rear seat occupants as well. The next S-class will probably have this feature, so expect to see this then.
