NEW TYPE OF IIHS TESTING

If you haven't heard of IIHS, let me explain it to you. IIHS stands for Insurance Institute for Highway Safety, and they are the ones that evaluate the safety of each car using crash tests (in the USA). They've recently added a new type of test, which is 'crashing the corner of a vehicle into a 5 feet tall barrier at precisely 40 mph'. That sounds fun. Anyways, they tested 12 premium/luxury sedans (or saloons if you're reading this from Europe) and only 3 got 'good' or 'acceptable' ratings. From the 'good'/'acceptable' category was the Volvo S60, Acura TL, and the Infiniti G series. The results got worse and worse, with Acura TSX, BMW 3 Series, and Lincoln MKZ in the 'mediocre' category. The 'poor' or 'feeble' category contained cars like the Audi A4, Lexus IS 250/350, and Mercedes-Benz C Class. The worst contender was the stylish Volkswagen CC, with the first time ever, having its door fall off. It looks like Volkswagen focused more on style rather than function.
