This post marks our 100th post on Open Track. Thank you for your positive support so far!
Horsepower and torque, has indeed, come a long way. With more and more cars having turbochargers, (with better fuel efficiency) it's easy to forget that we still have, cheap, simple, bare-bones transportation too. All of these cars have similar characteristics. They are all hatchbacks (or have a hatchback-influenced style) and they are all small cars. If you are thinking of buying one of these cars (if it is gasoline-powered), think again. Not all small cars are fuel-efficient. This is because they don't have the correct power to weight ratio. For example, a Chevy Cruze Eco gets around 42 mpg, which is more than what a Chevy Spark gets for its mpg.
The least powerful new car is the Mitsubishi i, and this is one of the most fuel-efficient for its size. This electric subcompact car has around 66 horsepower with 145 lb-ft of torque. To get from 0 to 60, this car needs 13.8 seconds. As a comparison, a Lamborghini Aventador needs 15.8 seconds for finish the quarter-mile mark, at 133.9 mph. That's quite slow, don't you think?
Congrats on your 100th post :) keep it up!
